Taking it slow is not the same as going nowhere
A few thoughts on patience, mutual interest, and not rushing just because everyone else seems to.
There is a quiet pressure in Christian dating to treat every conversation like it might lead to marriage. Some of that comes from good desire. Some of it comes from feeling behind.
You can care about marriage and still take your time.
Ask ordinary questions early
You do not need a deep interview on day one. But it helps to know simple things. Does church matter in their week, or only in theory? Are they hoping for a serious relationship, or just seeing what happens?
If the answers feel vague for a long time, notice that. Clarity is kind.
Wait for both people to lean in
If you are doing all the reaching out, something is already off. Mutual matching helps with this. You only message when you both liked each other first. That keeps the early days from becoming a one person project.
Interest should feel shared. Not chased.
Leave room for God without forcing a story
Pray. Ask for wisdom. Do not decide that every new match is “the one” after three messages. Some people teach you what you need. Some stay. You usually cannot tell which is which in the first week.
Slow can still be hopeful. It just refuses to pretend.
